We desire to “Know God and Make Him Known”. To “know God and make Him known” means that we desire to know Him deeply and draw closer to Him in a personal way, not just as Creator, but also as Savior, Lord and Friend. It also means that we are committed to studying His Word in an in-depth way, teaching it verse by verse and applying it practically. We rely on the Holy Spirit to empower the teaching of the Word (1 Corinthians 2:10 “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God”). When it’s all said and done it should be clear to all that we have spent time with Jesus (Acts 4:13 “…They realized that they had spent time with Jesus”).
We ought to challenge each other to “Be the Church”, not just go to church by taking what we are learning and applying it to our everyday lives. To “Be the Church” means that we are actively involved. It means we are connected with the vitality and function of the church, and its individual members. (1 Corinthians 12) It also means that we exemplify Jesus outside of the church. In our homes, in our jobs, in our activities, we shine as lights. (Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”). As ambassadors of Christ, we desire to bring the message of salvation and reconciliation to whoever will listen (2 Corinthians 5:20 “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God”). We believe by doing these things we will draw closer to the Lord and to each other.
